About The Position

The Mid-Level Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Information Technology (IT) Architect partners with business stakeholders and technical teams to design, document, and deliver domain-level architectures that align business priorities, capabilities, processes, data, and systems. This role focuses on cross-functional, mid-sized to large initiatives, documenting transitional architectures and patterns, and includes hands-on software development and delivery responsibilities to ensure designs are implementable and maintainable.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in program or portfolio management with enterprise-scale data migrations or modernizations
  • 3+ years of experience in providing architecture (including business, application, integration, security, or infrastructure architecture) support to a project or domain that consists of multiple applications and/or technologies
  • 3+ years of experience with Cloud, Containerization and Automation
  • 3+ years of experience working in a cross functional environment with all levels in the business from individual contributors to executive leadership

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Relevant certifications (TOGAF, SAFe, cloud architect certifications)
  • Experience with PLM, MES, ERP, WMS/TMS, supplier portals, or shop floor automation systems
  • Experience with canonical data models and MDM implementations
  • Experience creating migration wave plans and validating pilots/prototypes

Responsibilities

  • Translate business goals and capability requirements into solution and domain architectures to incorporate software design and implementation considerations
  • Lead analysis, design, and hands-on prototyping for business, including system context, process flow, data models, integration patterns, application programming interfaces (APIs), and component designs
  • Contribute to and review code, implement reference implementations or proof-of-concepts, and participate in code reviews to validate architectural decisions and ensure adherence to patterns and quality standards
  • Produce architecture artifacts: capability maps, current-state/target-state views, sequence diagrams, component and deployment diagrams, application programming interface (API) specifications, and example code snippets or templates
  • Define and validate non-functional requirements (scalability, performance, security, observability) and translate them into measurable software design constraints and test strategies (unit, integration, and performance testing)
  • Collaborate closely with product owners, solution architects, software developers, quality assurance (QA), data engineering, security, and operations to validate designs, support implementation, and guide deployment (continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), containerization, cloud-native patterns)
  • Identify technical debt, dependencies, and migration paths; propose incremental implementation plans and contribute to roadmap planning and backlog prioritization with clear cost/risk/value tradeoffs
  • Drive adoption of modern software development practices (development and operations (DevOps), automated testing, continuous delivery, infrastructure as code) and mentor development teams on applying architectural patterns in code
  • Conduct architecture and design reviews; document decisions via architecture decision records (ADRs) and manage exception requests where needed
  • Support architecture governance processes and contribute to the enterprise architecture repository and reusable pattern and code libraries, including sample implementations and reference microservices
  • Communicate complex technical tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and help teams operationalize architecture through runbooks, deployment guides, and supportability plans

Benefits

  • health insurance
  • flexible spending accounts
  • health savings accounts
  • retirement savings plans
  • life and disability insurance programs
  • paid and unpaid time away from work
