About The Position

The Oregon State Police in Salem, Oregon is hiring for one (1) Full-Time, Permanent Information Systems Specialist 4 position. This position has the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule after successful completion of trial service. The salary listed is the non-PERS (Public Employee Retirement System) qualifying salary range. Summary of Job Duties: In this position, you will provide personal computer installation, training, technical support, diagnostic help, and operating instructions to users of computer systems at Oregon State Police offices throughout the state. You will troubleshoot personal computer and local area network problems. In this position, you will also provide proactive computer support by routinely providing on-site support and maintenance and quality assurance to maintain Department software, hardware, network, and configuration standards. You will be responsible for the design, maintenance and support of the Internet and Intranet web sites. You will also provide technical reports and information to management.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of information systems experience in: desktop and technical support, including diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, operating system, and basic network connectivity issues; installing, configuring, upgrading, and troubleshooting client devices and software; and providing remote and on-site support in a distributed business environment; OR (b) An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND one (1) year of information systems experience in: desktop and technical support, including diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, operating system, and basic network connectivity issues; installing, configuring, upgrading, and troubleshooting client devices and software; and providing remote and on-site support in a distributed business environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing hands-on technical support in mission-critical environments with limited tolerance for downtime, including support across multiple locations or remote worksites through both on-site and remote troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing technical support requests under shifting operational demands while working independently and adhering to established policies, procedures, and escalation requirements.
  • Experience supporting standardized workstation environments, controlled configurations, and agency-approved software deployments within a secure enterprise setting.
  • Experience using ticketing, incident management, or work-order systems to document, prioritize, track, and resolve support requests in a structured service environment.
