About The Position

JCS Solutions is seeking an experienced Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) to support the National Military Command Center (NMCC) Cybersecurity Team. In this role, you will provide cybersecurity and security engineering expertise, conduct technical security assessments, support security architecture initiatives, and help maintain secure enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will bring strong systems engineering experience, expertise with HBSS and ACAS technologies, and the ability to identify and mitigate cybersecurity risks across complex information systems while supporting mission-critical operations. Active: TS/SCI is required. Salary Range: $90,000 to $129,000. Location: Arlington, VA.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Current Security+ certification (or equivalent DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification): CompTIA Security+ CE (required), CompTIA CySA+, CCNA Security, GSEC, SSCP
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or a Master's degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, 12 years of intensive, progressive experience demonstrating the required proficiency may be substituted.
  • 5+ years of experience with all aspects of systems engineering, including design and architecture.
  • Demonstrated capability to identify security risks throughout information system network structures, including operating systems, hardware, and data transfer protocols.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills with the ability to present ideas effectively in formal and informal group and individual settings.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills, including the ability to effectively plan, organize, prioritize work, and follow through to completion.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot complex information technology systems.
  • Design computing infrastructure solutions that support mission requirements.
  • Establish networking and security controls to ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards.
  • Lead technical solution development from requirements refinement through design, build, testing, and deployment.
  • Document technical solutions, analyses, recommendations, and courses of action.
  • Perform and review technical security assessments of computing environments.
  • Identify system vulnerabilities, cybersecurity compliance gaps, and recommended mitigation strategies.
  • Build, deploy, maintain, and patch HBSS Windows servers and ACAS Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.9 and 8 servers.
  • Build, maintain, and patch ePO, Security Center, and Nessus infrastructure.
  • Provision Security Center accounts for Vulnerability Managers.
  • Analyze ACAS scan results and support remediation of vulnerability findings.
  • Obtain and manage required licenses for HBSS ePO and Tenable Security Center platforms.
  • Obtain HBSS and ACAS kickstart ISOs through DISA processes.
  • Build virtual servers and deploy McAfee modules through ePO.
  • Configure and maintain McAfee policies across multiple environments.
  • Apply STIG requirements to Windows operating systems, McAfee configurations, and ACAS RHEL servers.
  • Conduct SCAP scans on Windows and RHEL systems.
  • Maintain Red Hat repositories and update RPM packages for disconnected environments.
  • Configure local YUM repositories to support offline ACAS server patching.
  • Deploy and manage Rogue System Detection sensors across network segments.
  • Identify rogue subnets and unauthorized endpoints.
  • Troubleshoot Security Center and Nessus scanner issues.
  • Support cybersecurity risk assessments and security engineering activities.
