About The Position

The St. Louis Public Library’s Central Branch has an opening for a part-time Information Specialist. The Library values the talents and perspectives that a diverse workforce brings and the positive impact they have on our services and customer base. The Information Specialist is enthusiastic, patient, and committed to providing excellent customer service and is comfortable working with the public and providing technology-related assistance.

Requirements

At least six months of customer service-related experience, or an associate’s degree, or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to learn and use technology as the Library continues to evolve.

Responsibilities

Assist with reference and readers’ advisory questions for customers via face-to-face and telephone interactions.
Work at the Circulation Desk as needed, providing circulation services to customers.
Provide technology assistance to customers, as needed.
Record department statistics for monthly reports.
Assist with emptying book drops, handling returns, and processing daily delivery.
Other duties as assigned.
