About The Position

As an Information Security Analyst 2, you will serve as a vital component of the DOJ Information Security Program, acting as the primary defense for the department's security operations. Your core responsibilities involve the collection and evaluation of technical security data. Through this analysis, you will develop actionable guidance for DOJ leadership to effectively identify and mitigate potential security risks. The Justice Information Technology Services (JITS) team provides vital Information Technology (IT) infrastructure which Montanans rely upon to support state and local law enforcement. Our dynamic team manages IT systems, services, and interfaces to support approximately 900 DOJ employees, and over 3,000 Criminal Justice Information Network (CJIN) customers working together to safeguard Montana! We directly support DOJ staff involved with legal cases concerning the State and its people, Montana missing persons, victim services, children’s justice, consumer protection, criminal investigations, highway safety, motor vehicle licensing, gambling control, and forensic laboratory services. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology-related field.
  • Two years of experience working in an IT security role.
  • Other combinations of education, certification or experience may be substituted.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cyber security landscape -- threats, trends, technologies.
  • Have conducted proactive network or system searches to detect and isolate advanced threats.

Nice To Haves

  • Security certifications (Security+, ISC2 CC, etc.) are highly desired.
  • Network certifications (Network+, CCNA, etc.) are highly desired.
  • Windows/Linux/UNIX system administration (workstations and servers) is highly desired.
  • Experience with applying NIST 800-53 and CJIS Security Policy.

Responsibilities

  • Protecting the DOJ by detecting and neutralizing system vulnerabilities, as well as enforcing the designated security standards.
  • Perform vulnerability evaluations on computer systems and network infrastructure.
  • Propose security upgrades for current or future information technology systems.
  • Investigate digital devices for potential criminal activity and compile detailed forensic findings upon request.
  • Manage and adjust security tools and software configurations to align with specific system needs.
  • Execute incident-response protocols to mitigate security breaches or cyberattacks.
  • Oversee designated security platforms as part of administrative duties.
