About The Position

Peraton seeks an Information Operations (IO) Policy SME to support DAMO-Strategic Operations / Information Operations in developing Army policy and directives with regard to the implementation and use of AI across the Army. In this role, build understanding of how AI and ML can be used to impact information operations, facilitate the codification of guardrails to limit its impact on Army operations while, and championing policy and resourcing solutions for service-wide artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and data science (DS) stakeholder requirements. Tasks include: Assist in developing policies and understanding of the application of AI, ML, and natural language processes (NLP) for gaining an advantage in how that information can lead to analysis to develop better options for decision making. Understand potential impacts on Army operations from information derived from machine learning, algorithm analysis, and data clustering -- and develop guardrails to mitigate risks. Identify limitations of how AI and ML can be used to manipulate outcomes in IO and develop recommendations on how to prevent/limit Army forces from being susceptible to that manipulation. Drive service-wide AI/ML/DS stakeholder requirements through the Army Planning, Programming, Budgeting Execution (PPBE) process; develop resourcing and policy solutions that will enable Army formations to effectively compete against an adversary. Prepare briefings, information/decision papers, policy documents, staffing packages, EXORDs, memorandums, SITREPs and official multimedia correspondence related to DAMO-SOI; Assist DAMO-SOI in responding to inquiries from Congress and other higher authorities. Participate in DoD, Joint, and Army projects, studies, and working groups within the DAMO-SOI portfolio including Misinformation/Disinformation (M/D), Publicly Available Information (PAI), Technical Effects, Operations Security (OPSEC), and Data for influence. Provide SME-level expertise in developing policies and understanding of the application of structured and unstructured data, data management, and data analytics and how it enables increased capability and decision making. Gather known risks -- and help discover unknown risks – of sophisticated AI applications that use advanced unstructured and semi-structured data analysis.
