About The Position

PCSI is looking for an Infectious Waste Handler at Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center at Ft. Belvoir in Alexandria. This candidate will need to work independently to clean and sanitize bathrooms, offices, and patient care areas. This position is Part-Time, Saturday and Sunday, 10AM - 6PM. PCSI is an AbilityOne employer—as such, individuals and veterans with disabilities may be prioritized based on role. Documentation may be required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to push objects up to 100 pounds, lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to bend the body downward and squat by bending at the knees.
  • Ability to climb up and down ladders and stairs.
  • Ability to verbally relate to others.
  • Maintain focus on the subject at hand.
  • Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening.
  • Ability to be exposed to various dirt, debris, and odors.
  • Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
  • Possess valid driver’s license and maintain good driving record.
  • If required, ability to obtain and maintain security clearance and base access to assigned site(s).

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one year of public sector (school, hospital, clinic, etc.) related experience preferred.
  • Experience using cleaning equipment.
  • Familiar with basic infection control concepts.
  • Familiar with Exposure Control Plan.
  • Must have Hazmat Certification within one (1) year.
  • Familiarization with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance requirements for blood borne pathogen standard 29 CFR 1910.1030.
  • Familiarization with Federal, State, and local regulations and requirements applicable to the performance of PCSI’s contract on issues of Bio-Waste Removal.

Responsibilities

  • Pulling trash form assigned areas.
  • Conserve cleaning supplies.
  • Maintain assigned equipment in satisfactory and working condition.
  • Read and be able to understand correct dilution rates for cleaning chemicals.
  • Follow all facility safety polices and procedures.
  • Comply with all City, State, and Federal agencies requirements.
  • Make all decisions based on safety first.
  • Read and fully understand the “Material Safety Data Sheets” (MSDS) for all chemicals and solutions used in our processes and procedures.
