About The Position

This job evaluates quality of patient care and patient outcomes related to healthcare-associated infections. Collects, prepares and analyzes healthcare associated infection data, presents infection data, makes recommendations for action. Monitors employee compliance in use of barrier precautions and infection prevention measures. Prepares and presents educational offerings for staff and serves as a resource to all departments and personnel. Implements programs to protect the healthcare workers, visitors, and others in the healthcare environment, and sets and recommends policies and procedures to prevent adverse events. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, public health, medical technology, biology, or related health sciences field; OR Registered nurse with current RN license in state of practice.
2 years of nursing or healthcare experience.
Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout required job processes.
Knowledge of infectious disease process, patient care practices, aseptic technique and other principles of infection transmission and prevention.
Organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
Ability to travel throughout and between facilities.

Nice To Haves

Infection control experience.
Certification in infection control within 2 year of hire or BSN.

Responsibilities

Provides ongoing infection control education to all healthcare workers.
Ensures committee participation.
Maintains performance improvement activities.
Performs other duties as required.
Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
Maintains and complies with its Compliance & Privacy Program and Standards of Conduct, including the immediate reporting of any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct; patient/employee safety, patient privacy, and/or other compliance-related concerns.
