Infection Preventionist, Quality & Risk Management

About The Position
The Infection Preventionist conducts organization-wide surveillance, reporting of communicable diseases to public health, monitors environment for infection prevention and control risks, and provides educational/in-service activities that support the organization-wide infection control program, including inpatient and ambulatory.
Requirements
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in an acute care setting.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission, CDC, CAL OSHA, CDPH standards for infection prevention and control.
- Project management skills.
- Knowledge of CDC-NHSN definitions, software and data analysis.
- Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards; care with sensitivity and respect; advance care through development of new ideas and technology; promote teamwork to achieve CHOC’s mission; and understand and exceed customer expectations.
- Strong organization and prioritizing skills
- Strong verbal and written communications
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Strong computer skills
- Certified in Infection Prevention and Control within two years of hire.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, lab/health science, public health or related health field. If RN Certification in Infection Control, then BSN required within three years of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Five (5) years of experience in infection control & epidemiology.
