About The Position

Edgehill, a premier CCRC in Stamford, CT, is seeking an Infection Preventionist for its Boutique Skilled Nursing neighborhood. This role is crucial for planning, organizing, developing, coordinating, and directing the facility's infection prevention and control program. The position operates in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, and is directed by the Administrator and the Infection Prevention and Control Committee. The neighborhood has an average census of 40 residents and boasts luxury amenities, high staffing ratios, and full administrative support.

Requirements

  • RN
  • Specialty training in Infection Prevention and Control through accredited continuing education
  • Infection Prevention Certification required

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, implement, and oversee the Infection Prevention and Control Program in accordance with current regulations and guidelines governing skilled nursing facilities.
  • Establish and maintain an infection surveillance program.
  • Accountable for surveillance of healthcare acquired and community acquired infections.
  • Assist with Environmental Rounds.
  • Review, summarize, and report data such as Antibiotic Stewardship, facility acquired infections, and outbreaks to the Infection Prevention and Control Committee.
  • Oversee vaccines/immunization programs.
  • Conduct investigations pertaining to new or significant trends or communicable diseases.
  • Complete reporting to all local, state, and federal entities.
  • Participate in national collaboratives and external reporting to CDC NHSN system, and other post-acute-care specific quality organizations.
  • Ensure appropriate intervention and education occurs with staff, volunteers, and medical staff when healthcare infection trends, outbreaks, or non-compliance to infection control/OSHA are identified.
  • Ensure that education and counseling on infection prevention is available for staff, volunteers, medical staff, patients, and parents.
  • Support and participate in interdisciplinary performance and quality improvement processes.
  • Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and ensure that facility leaders are informed of appropriate issues.
  • Understand and comply with infection control, safety, and OSHA procedures and regulations.
  • Report all reportable diseases to the local and state health departments.
  • Serve on IPCC and QAPI meetings as requested or indicated.
  • Assist and oversee the tracking, administration, and record keeping of required employee immunizations and recommended resident immunizations.
  • Review and analyze infectious laboratory reports and consult with DNS in developing the care plan for appropriate transmission-based precautions.
