Infection Prevention Specialist - Full Time - Day Shift

Essentia Health is seeking a medical professional to serve as Infection Prevention Specialist at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Minnesota. This employee works Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, 40 hours per week. Occasional weekends on call are required. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or another healthcare-related field.
- 2 years clinical experience in a patient care setting (prefer inpatient/hospital setting), medical lab, public health, infection prevention, or closely related field.
- CIC certification is required within 2 years of hire.
Nice To Haves
- EPIC experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Works collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team to assure the safety of patients, personnel, visitors, and the community.
- Compiling, analyzing, and disseminating infection prevention data.
- Reviewing and recommending changes in practice when indicated.
- Providing education consistent with best practice standards and requirements of regulatory agencies, e.g., TJC, OSHA, and the goals and mission of Essentia.
- Proficient in healthcare-associated infection surveillance, data entry, and data analysis.
- Implements and monitors the Infection Prevention program and practices.
