Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment
- Possesses an active CPR certification
- Remains knowledgeable about specific state laws and regulations governing practice
- Satisfactory completion of initial and annual clinical competencies to demonstrate aptitude as assigned by role
- Must be a bachelors prepared (or higher) nurse with experience in healthcare infection control
- Must possess (or obtain within six months of hire) certification in infection control from a nationally recognized organization such as the Association for Professionals in Infection Control (APIC) or Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA).
Responsibilities
- Deliver quality care consistent with the scope of practice for Registered Nurses as outlined by the state nurse practice act.
- Manage responsibilities of the Infection Control Program.
- Maintain national standards for infection control in healthcare at all facilities.
- Provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment.
- Help prevent the development and transmission of communicable diseases and infections.
- Delegate and ensure supervision of nursing activities and functions to other competent nursing personnel appropriate to their scope of practice.
