About The Position

Central Louisiana State Hospital (CLSH) in Pineville, Louisiana, is seeking applicants for a Registered Nurse-Program Coordinator (Infection Control Nurse) position within its Quality Management Department. This role is crucial for coordinating facility-wide programs including Infection Control, Discharge Planning, Quality Assurance, DRG Coordination, Utilization Review, and Support Service Review. The nurse will play a vital role for the Louisiana Department of Health in the Behavioral Health community, upholding CLSH’s values and mission to deliver quality and effective care. This position is responsible for the oversight of the Infection Prevention and Control Program at CLSH and requires tolerance, courtesy, patience, professionalism, and adherence to confidentiality when interacting with patients, visitors, vendors, staff, and external partners. Requirements

  • Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse.
  • Three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
  • A bachelor's degree in nursing plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
  • A master's degree in nursing or public health plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
  • A doctorate in nursing or public health plus one year of experience as a licensed registered nurse.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as the Infection Prevention and Control Committee chairman and plans, implements, and conducts activities of the Infection Prevention and Control Program at CLSH.
  • Provides the Infection Prevention and Control Committee and CLSH Administration with information about specific problem areas.
  • Acts as a liaison between the Infection Prevention and Control Committee and all other hospital departments, as well as regulatory agencies, such as Public Health, CMS, TJC, and CDC.
  • Conducts surveillance for Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs), Infections Present upon Admission (POAs), monitoring for epidemiologic significance and implementing preventative strategies and sound control measures supported by standards and guidelines.
  • Reviews guidelines necessary for compliance with CDC, AHA, WHO, OSHA, CMS, and TJC recommendations and revised standards necessary for infection prevention and control program activities.
  • Serves as consultant, when needed, for situations that may compromise the health and safety of clients or staff.
  • Establishes and maintains a record of all client infections and determines the prevalence of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs) on a monthly basis.
  • Ascertains the efficiency of sterilization and disinfection procedures used throughout the hospital.
  • Conducts employment and annual tuberculosis screening and vaccination program for all CLSH employees, LIPs, and contracted staff.
