Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Biology Medical Technology Program, or other healthcare related field and five years of recent related healthcare work experience that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and five years of recent related work experience that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.
  • Master’s degree in a related discipline may be substituted for two years of the experience requirement.
  • Registered Nurse: WA, upon hire or International Medical Laboratory Scientist, upon hire or Clinical Laboratory Technologist, upon hire or Certified in Infection Control, upon hire or Cert Sterile Processing Dist Tech, upon hire or Certified and Registered Central Service Technician, upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the assigned site- or function-based Infection Control and Prevention Program to ensure that all activities are conducted/documented in a timely manner and in accordance with approved business plan, professional standards and applicable regulatory requirements; facilitates the implementation, support and ongoing optimization of the program; promotes and champions the program to others in the organization.
  • Consults, on a regular basis, with facility/function management in the development and implementation of action plans, processes and tools to address deficiencies, mitigate hazards and control risk.
  • Produces reports on key performance indices and other significant benchmarking metrics; meets periodically with management/committees to present site-specific data; collaborates with other departments to address and resolve problems, share information and enhance overall effectiveness/productivity.
  • Monitors, investigates and analyzes actual and potential risk factors; follows established procedures for timely notification of appropriate stakeholders/agencies; participates in the development and implementation of action plans and takes timely and proactive corrective action to forestall problems and adverse impact; monitors compliance with action plans for sustained improvement in patient safety.
  • Devises and implements effective tactics and contingency plans to mitigate or resolve issues within scope of authority; reconciles conflicts regarding standards, priorities and resources and escalates matters exceeding scope of authority to appropriate party in accordance with established procedures.
  • Monitors the status of the action plans and takes steps necessary to re-direct priorities, re-direct resources, re-define action plans, etc. to ensure completion of program deliverables within agreed timeframes; escalates unresolved non-compliance issues to higher-level authority.
