About The Position

Stanford Health Care - Tri-Valley is looking for an Infection Control Practitioner to join their growing team. This role will provide outstanding opportunities for growth and professional development. The Infection Control Practitioner works collaboratively with all departments of the organization and carries out infection control projects to reduce and prevent the risk of infection to patients, visitors, and staff. The Infection Control Practitioner develops and assists with activities to accomplish the goals and objectives of the department and monitors the success of the infection prevention plan.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in nursing or other clinical healthcare field or public health required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in an acute care facility.
  • Minimum of 2 years of infection control experience.
  • Strong background in epidemiology and data analysis preferred.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) will require current California RN License.
  • BLS for the Healthcare Provider from AHA required.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi task.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point), email, internet.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to be self-directed, to work independently and to prioritize work.
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service and staff training to meet customer service standards.
  • Ability to apply epidemiological principles to projects and evaluation of environment and practices.

Nice To Haves

  • National Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred and required within 3 years of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-going surveillance using Center of Disease Control (CDC) infection criteria, documentation, and investigation of nosocomial infections.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the surveillance plan by analyzing trends and risk factors, and design and evaluate prevention and control strategies.
  • Collect, analyze and report data as required per state and national compliance standards.
  • Participate in quality/performance improvement activities by assessing, monitoring and evaluating outcomes on a continuous basis.
  • Plan, organize, develop and present educational programs for all hospital employees to ensure compliance to infection control best practices.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource on infection control practices and policies to Stanford Healthcare - ValleyCare patients, families, and employees.
  • Prepare and present surveillance reports to designated committees.
  • Maintain a knowledge base of infection prevention and control information to effectively establish policies and procedures to prevent exposures and cross-contamination.
  • Maintain compliance with national standards and regulating bodies such as The Joint Commission (TJC), CDC, OSHA, FDA and HCFA.
  • Employee must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital.
