About The Position

The Bertha Alyce Early Childhood Academy of the Evelyn Rubenstein JCC seeks an Infant/Young Toddler Teacher to work in our year-round (June-May) progressive program. The teacher is responsible for the care and education of children as part of a teaching team. We have a welcoming culture founded on the ethics and values of Judaism. Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long intervals.
  • Ability to engage with children at their level, which can include sitting on the floor.
  • Upon hire, complete First Aid and CPR Certification (or recertification upon expiration).

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or CDA.
  • Required completion of an associate degree while employed.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a safe and healthy environment by designing appropriate room arrangements, promoting healthy eating practices, maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment, and posting necessary information.
  • Advance physical and intellectual competence by providing a balance of child-initiated and teacher-initiated activities, using appropriate equipment and materials for indoor and outdoor play, providing an integrated curriculum that meets individual needs, and planning and implementing experiences that support intellectual development.
  • Support social and emotional development and provide positive guidance by planning and implementing hands-on activities that develop positive self-esteem and self-image, social skills, and peer interactions; planning and implementing culturally diverse experiences; using and promoting positive guidance techniques; providing creative and expressive activities; establishing routines with smooth transition periods; and communicating with children at their developmental level.
  • Establish positive and productive relationships with families through daily communication, relating assessment information to parents, promoting communication through progress notes, newsletters, and conferences, and providing opportunities for family participation.
  • Ensure a well-run, purposeful program responsive to participant needs by assessing supplies and materials, coordinating and supervising aides, assistants, and volunteers, maintaining written plans, assessing children's needs and developmental progress, and ensuring annual requirements for state licensing hours are met.
  • Maintain a commitment to professionalism by promoting the center’s philosophy and educational objectives, maintaining a high level of professionalism daily, communicating and interacting respectfully with colleagues and supervisors, maintaining consistent attendance, engaging in ongoing staff development, supporting colleagues' professional growth, and attending staff meetings, workshops, and in-service training.
