About The Position

United Way Miami is hiring an Infant Toddler Teacher to join their team. This role involves providing a safe and nurturing environment for children, fostering their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. The teacher will collaborate with the Director EHS-CCP Site to design and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with UWM, EHS-CCP grant, and Head Start Performance Standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) 45-hour child care training requirement must be completed during the first year of employment
  • 15 in-service hours per year
  • CDA with a focus on Infant/Toddler or to complete it during the first year of employment

Responsibilities

  • Provide experiences that build on children’s prior experiences, encouraging curiosity and questions.
  • Encourage and model appropriate behavior and expectations.

  • Capitalize on opportunities to help children build vocabulary by asking follow-up questions.
  • Design and implement a reflective curriculum, materials, activities, and environments daily.

  • Schedule, develop plans, and conduct home visits in collaboration with Family Engagement Staff.
  • Keep information confidential.
  • Engage parents in ongoing communication about their child’s development screenings and assessments.
  • Implement the Brazelton Touchpoints guiding principles and assumptions.
  • Use data to individualize instruction and create action plans.
  • Provide parents with activities to enhance their child’s development based on assessment results.
  • Review overall summary scores, subscales, and individual items from screenings and assessments.
  • Take the lead in guiding the team in developing classroom goals and action plans.
  • Ensure daily responsibilities are complete and jobs are shared.
  • Implement reflective supervision with the teaching team.
  • Supervise children, following all safety and health rules, and knowing the number of children at all times.
  • Keep the environment safe, organized, and accessible to children.
  • Complete appropriate documentation to report incidents and accidents.
  • Keep abreast of the latest trends and research in the early childhood field.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and flexibility in child care practices, continuing ongoing professional growth.
  • Attend all required meetings/training and be punctual.
  • Protect the confidentiality of children and families.
  • Establish and maintain a relationship of cooperation and respect.
  • Participate in classroom and Center events.
  • Be open to communicate and collaborate at all times.
  • Inform the Director when caring for a child with a significant injury, acknowledging and listening to a parent’s concern, filing a neglect and abuse complaint, or recording an unusual incident.
