About The Position

This position is considered Seasonal Full-Time, with an approximate start date in March/April and running through December, including some downtime during the off-peak period. The Infant Toddler Teacher is responsible for planning and conducting classroom instructional curriculum and activities for assigned children to implement a curriculum that encourages the growth of language, social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and communication skills. The role also involves supervising and monitoring the work activities of assigned Teacher Aide(s), Classroom Floaters and Volunteers, conducting and monitoring developmental screening of children, assisting in collaborating and implementing Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs), and monitoring the progress of individual children. Daily health checks of children are required, as is participation in home visits with parents of assigned children and parent-staff conferences. The teacher will also prepare, maintain, and present records, documents, reports, reviews, and databases, and may perform duties of office staff. They will assist in interviewing, hiring, and evaluation of Teacher Aides and represent the MSHS program to the community and educational agencies. The position requires knowledge of and the ability to stay current on new educational practices, techniques, and objectives, and the ability to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment, provide children with experiences that foster curiosity and problem-solving, and develop age-appropriate rules and expectations. The ability to multi-task, manage time, meet deadlines, and remain calm and professional under pressure is essential, as is maintaining confidentiality of CC Idaho clients and records, and performing all duties in accordance with CC Idaho policies, procedures, safety practices, and Head Start Performance Standards.

Requirements

  • Highschool Diploma or GED
  • Be enrolled in a CDA program that will be completed in 1 year of hire
  • One year or more teaching or related early education experience
  • Current driver's license and proof of auto insurance
  • Must pass physical examination and background checks, including state day care clearance
  • Must obtain clearance of Tuberculosis
  • Must obtain Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification

Nice To Haves

  • Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate credential (CDA); must maintain CDA credential
  • Associate degree in early childhood education
  • Proficient in both English and Spanish, orally and in writing
