About The Position

ChildRoots SE is seeking a Step 4+ Assistant Teacher for their Southeast Portland location. This is a full-time position (1.0 FTE, 5 days/40 hours per week) working with infants (0-23 months) and toddlers (24-35 months). ChildRoots is a progressive, play-based childcare center that focuses on social and emotional development, exploration, and inquiry. The role involves co-teaching in classrooms designed to provoke curiosity, with an emphasis on child-led learning and a supportive, collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Be a Step 4 or higher in the Oregon Registry Online (ORO) system
  • Be currently enrolled in Oregon's Central Background Registry (or begin the process and complete it upon receiving confirmation)
  • At least 2 years of experience in an ECE classroom setting.
  • Meet the teacher-qualification criteria as outlined by the Office of Child Care requirements
  • Completion of college-level courses in early childhood education-related subjects.
  • Complete Oregon’s Safety Set Trainings and required certifications: Pediatric CPR/First Aid Course, Oregon Food Handler's Card, Introduction to Child Care Health & Safety, Recognizing & Reporting Child Abuse & Neglect, Prevention is Better than Treatment, Safe Sleep for Oregon's Infants.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent) preferred.
