About The Position
The Learning Experience - Upper West Side is seeking a nurturing and experienced Infant Lead Teacher to join our early childhood education team. Our Infant Lead Teacher creates a warm, responsive classroom where babies feel safe, secure, and loved while reaching important developmental milestones. We're looking for an educator who understands that infant care is about much more than routines - it's about building trusting relationships, encouraging exploration, and creating meaningful learning experiences from the very beginning.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education required
- Previous professional infant classroom or early childhood education experience strongly preferred
- Lead Teacher or classroom leadership experience preferred
- Strong understanding of infant development and responsive caregiving
- Excellent communication, organization, and relationship-building skills
- Patient, nurturing, dependable, and team-oriented
- Must meet applicable New York City childcare requirements
Nice To Haves
- Previous professional infant classroom or early childhood education experience
- Lead Teacher or classroom leadership experience
Responsibilities
- Lead daily routines and learning experiences in an Infant classroom
- Provide responsive, individualized care based on each infant's needs and schedule
- Support feeding, diapering, sleep, tummy time, and other daily care routines
- Create age-appropriate sensory, movement, language, music, and early learning experiences
- Support cognitive, physical, language, and social-emotional development
- Observe developmental progress and maintain required classroom documentation
- Maintain consistent communication and build trusting relationships with families
- Guide and collaborate with Assistant Teachers and classroom support staff
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and nurturing classroom
- Follow applicable New York City childcare health, safety, and licensing requirements
