Founding Infant Teacher
About The Position
Morgan's Early Care Connection is a BFTS-licensed early care program serving infants through pre-K in the Kirkwood neighborhood of Atlanta. We're part of The Morgan Oliver School family — an anti-racist, community-rooted approach to early childhood and elementary education. Our infant room is a warm, responsive space where babies are met with consistency, care, and genuine delight. MECC is hiring a founding Infant Care Teacher to build and lead our infant classroom from the ground up. This role is responsible for the daily care, safety, and developmental support of a small group of five infants from six weeks to walking age, working out of our warm bungalow in Kirkwood. We're looking for a baby whisperer — someone patient, kind, nurturing, attentive, and talkative with our littlest learners, ideally with musical ability or a love of singing. This person will spend the day caring for the infants directly, building the rhythms and routines of the room as one of MECC's founding teachers. This is a 12-month, full-year position.
Requirements
- Experience working with infants in a licensed childcare, early care, or similar setting strongly preferred
- Current or willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid certification
- Ability to meet Georgia DECAL/BFTS requirements, including background check clearance
- Patient, warm, and attentive disposition — comfortable with the physical demands of infant care (lifting, bending, being on the floor)
- Naturally talkative and engaged with infants throughout the day; musical ability or a love of singing is a big plus
- Strong communication skills with both children and families
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work collaboratively as part of a small team
Nice To Haves
- CDA (Child Development Associate) credential or equivalent coursework a plus, but not required
Responsibilities
- Provide attentive, responsive care for infants, including feeding, diapering, and following individualized sleep/wake schedules
- Maintain a safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment in compliance with BFTS licensing requirements
- Support early developmental milestones through age-appropriate activities: tummy time, sensory exploration, language exposure, and movement
- Track and communicate each child's daily routine (feeding, sleep, diapering) clearly and consistently to families
- Build trusting relationships with infants and their families through daily communication and warmth
- Maintain required BFTS ratios and supervision standards at all times
- Collaborate with co-teachers and the MECC team on classroom routines, transitions, and coverage
- Follow all health, safety, and emergency procedures, including safe sleep practices
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and required trainings (CPR/First Aid, BFTS-mandated training hours, etc.)
- Maintain required documentation (daily logs, incident reports, developmental observations) accurately and on time
