About The Position

Splunk's Industry Solutions Engineering organization is building deep, vertical-specific technical expertise into our go-to-market motion! As an Industry Solutions Engineer for Manufacturing, you will be the technical authority on how Splunk's AI-powered security and observability platform addresses the specific IT/OT convergence, production resiliency, supply chain, and industrial security challenges facing discrete and process manufacturers. Partner with account teams, industry sales leaders, and customers to translate manufacturing-specific operational and security requirements into differentiated technical solutions and win strategies. This is a high-visibility, individual-contributor role reporting into the Industry Solutions Engineering organization, working closely with core Solutions Engineering, industry go-to-market leadership, and product teams.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a pre-sales, solutions engineering, or technical consulting role, with significant time spent supporting manufacturing or industrial customers.
  • Experience with OT/ICS environments (SCADA, PLCs, MES) and the IT/OT convergence security and monitoring challenges they create.
  • Experience with security operations (SIEM/SOAR), observability, or industrial monitoring platforms, with a foundation in data modeling and pipelines.
  • Experience integrating enterprise systems, specifically SAP ecosystems (SAP S/4HANA, SAP Integration Suite, or SAP BTP), with back-office and operational workflows.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working inside a manufacturing company, industrial OEM, or OT security vendor, with familiarity in supply chain risk, product lifecycle, and industrial safety practices.
  • Ability to build trust with senior technical and operational stakeholders, using excellent presentation and whiteboarding skills to communicate complex technical details and executive-level business narratives.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., GICSP, CISSP, Splunk Core Certified Power User/Architect) and familiarity with frameworks like IEC 62443 and NIST 800-82.
  • Experience with asset discovery and network monitoring tools purpose-built for OT environments, alongside Industrial IoT (IIoT) technologies.
  • Success in driving AI adoption, utilizing Agentic AI, LLMs, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to build internal tooling and automate business processes.
  • A background in Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) and change management to ensure successful implementation and adoption of complex technical solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead technical expert on Manufacturing use cases, including OT/ICS security, production line uptime, supply chain visibility, quality/safety incident response, and IT/OT convergence.
  • Design and deliver tailored demonstrations, proofs of value (POVs), and reference architectures that map Splunk's platform to manufacturing environments, including SCADA, PLC, MES, and industrial IoT data sources.
  • Drive AI adoption and internal tooling initiatives to automate and optimize order processing, invoicing, sourcing, fraud detection, product ordering, and warehousing.
  • Architect and demonstrate seamless SAP integration (including SAP S/4HANA, SAP Integration Suite, and SAP BTP) to connect plant-floor operations with back-office systems.
  • Act as the voice of the Manufacturing vertical back into product management, influencing the roadmap based on customer, safety, and regulatory trends (e.g., NIST 800-82, IEC 62443) while leveraging Agentic AI, LLMs, and RAG for predictive maintenance and supply chain resilience.
