About The Position

Performs tire maintenance service work in the fleet management department. Work involves labor required to service tires on gasoline and diesel powered construction, heavy duty, light duty and automotive equipment. This position has a budgeted starting salary of $21.25 hourly and may be used to fill multiple openings.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency preferred
  • Minimum of five years service experience including both light and heavy industrial and farm tires; suspensions and related systems required
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class B Colorado Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker Endorsement within 120 days of hire required
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, UST Class A/B Operator Designation within 120 days of hire required
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Forklift Operation Certification within 120 days of hire required
  • Must successfully pass background check.
  • Must be able to pass post job offer physical screening
  • Must maintain licenses and certifications current

Responsibilities

  • Inspects, services and maintains tires and wheels used on a variety of heavy and light duty vehicles and equipment; includes rotation, balancing, replacement and repair.
  • Performs preventative maintenance inspection on equipment and vehicles in the course of tire and wheel work.
  • Maintains inventory of tires, wheels, tubes, trade tools and repair products; ensures minimum down time of equipment.
  • Enters information into computerized inventory recording system.
  • Makes recommendations for purchases.
  • Performs Department of Transportation safety inspections.
  • Performs minor brake repairs for both air and hydraulic systems.
  • Performs minor suspension repairs.
  • Performs on-site service and emergency calls.
  • Answers phones and radio calls.
  • Maintains support service vehicle equipped to make field calls to any of Pueblo County’s equipment or vehicles.
  • Maintains necessary records of all work performed using computerized fleet management system.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork related to job assignments and time cards.
  • Cleans and organizes shop and equipment, changes solvents and disposes of trash and waste as required.
  • Maintains work area, tools and equipment in a clean and safe condition; responsible for reporting unsafe acts or conditions to supervisor.
  • Fills in for other staff as necessary and/or required.
