The Industrial Site Surveyor provides surveying services to company supervisors and craftsmen to ensure construction work complies with design drawing locations. The role establishes work control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and installation of materials, such as forms for concrete pours. The Surveyor is also expected to recognize quality issues beyond location and elevation, may be viewed as supervision, and may need to intervene in safety or quality issues. The position requires learning and following safety practices for work hazards and safely operating work-related tools and equipment. Work may take place in a plant operations or construction jobsite setting, with the position predominately outdoors at an industrial construction site. The Surveyor researches survey records and evidence, performs topographic and cross-section surveys and quantity calculations, develops data from photogrammetric records, and maintains accurate records of work performed. The role checks as-built conditions, prepares or revises engineering drawings as directed, determines methods for establishing or reestablishing survey control, and coordinates with engineering and architectural personnel, clients, and others. Surveying activities are coordinated with the superintendent to meet construction requirements. This is a full-time, salaried position. Days and hours vary by jobsite; occasional evening or weekend work and travel may be required as job duties demand.
