About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Process Wastewater Engineer with 7+ years of experience to join their Industrial Water Treatment team in North Carolina. This role involves supporting complex engineering projects by applying expertise in industrial wastewater engineering. The engineer will function as a key member on local and national industrial wastewater projects, utilizing various treatment processes and technologies. The position offers technical mentoring from senior staff and involves delegating tasks to junior engineers. Collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams is essential for implementing treatment solutions. The role supports projects from study through operation and maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of industrial wastewater treatment systems, excellent communication skills, and experience in large industrial settings. Proficiency in cost estimation, project scheduling, and work planning is required, along with a demonstrated ability to manage and deliver industrial water projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of process engineering or industrial wastewater experience.
  • Very strong understanding of different types of industrial wastewater treatment systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adept at capital as well as operation and maintenance cost estimation, project scheduling, and work planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and successfully deliver industrial water projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within a large industrial setting is preferred.
  • NC PE license or ability to obtain one via reciprocity shortly after joining Arcadis.
  • 10+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support the technical delivery of complex engineering projects through the application of knowledge and expertise in the field of industrial wastewater engineering.
  • Apply a range of processes and technologies, such as physical and chemical primary treatment, biological treatment, membrane treatment, adsorption, filtration, disinfection, thermal evaporation, and crystallization.
  • Receive technical mentoring and guidance from a principal process engineer or subject matter expert.
  • Delegate engineering or scientific calculations and drawings to mid-level and junior staff.
  • Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary design teams to implement complex treatment solutions.
  • Support project implementation from the study phase through design, construction, startup and commissioning, and the operation and maintenance of treatment systems.
  • Lead preparation of detailed engineering calculations & analysis.
  • Complete design tasks within budget and on schedule.
  • Prepare scopes of work, cost estimates and other project documentation.
  • Support the work of others and mentor junior-level engineers & design/drafting technical staff.
  • Work directly, when assigned, with clients to determine needs and provide solutions.
  • Maintain compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards.
