About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Treatment Division Director, the Industrial Pretreatment Coordinator is responsible for managing the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Industrial Pretreatment Program (IPP) as outlined in the John M. Asplund Water Pollution Control Facility (Asplund WPCF) National Pollution Discharge Elimination Permit. This role is responsible for supervising, planning, coordinating, budgeting, and other related activities of the industrial pretreatment inspectors. The coordinator ensures compliance with local, state, and federal requirements for the industrial pretreatment program and assists in the implementation of other environmental compliance programs to protect public health and the environment. This position develops and implements programs through industrial permitting, compliance monitoring, QA/QC activities, enforcement actions, Sewer Use Ordinance Implementation, fee and fine assessments, testimony for enforcement hearings or actions, technical document review, public education, and comprehensive report writing. The role requires collaboration with considerable independent initiative to plan, develop, and implement current and future source control programs using various software applications. The coordinator serves as the representative for the municipality to regulatory agencies, industrial users, and stakeholders. Responsibilities include reviewing permit applications and pretreatment reports, preparing permits, and staying current with changes to federal, state, and local pretreatment regulations. Other duties as assigned.
