About The Position

As an Industrial Painter at Z Modular at Zekelman Industries, this role is responsible for applying high-quality coatings to steel and fabricated metal assemblies. Reporting to the Construction Manager, this position requires precision spray application techniques to ensure consistent finish quality, coating integrity, and overall appearance. This role is ideal for individuals with strong attention to detail, hands-on industrial painting experience, and a commitment to producing high-quality, uniform finishes in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Strong experience with spray application equipment and coating systems
  • Ability to follow detailed coating specifications and maintain consistent, repeatable standards
  • Strong attention to detail with pride in workmanship
  • Ability to identify and correct coating defects to ensure quality finishes
  • Perform repetitive manual tasks requiring steady hand control and coordination
  • Stand, bend, and move for extended periods
  • Lift, carry, and handle materials as required
  • Work in a manufacturing or industrial environment with exposure to coatings and equipment
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in industrial painting, automotive refinishing, heavy equipment painting, or similar environment
  • Experience in manufacturing or fabrication environments
  • Familiarity with surface preparation techniques including sanding, grinding, cleaning, and masking

Responsibilities

  • Apply industrial coatings including primers, epoxies, urethanes, and other multi-component systems
  • Operate spray equipment such as spray guns, pressure pots, air-assisted, and conventional systems
  • Prepare surfaces through sanding, grinding, cleaning, masking, and contamination control
  • Ensure proper coating application by controlling film build, texture, and finish quality
  • Follow coating specifications including mix ratios, induction times, flash times, and cure requirements
  • Inspect finished surfaces and identify defects such as runs, orange peel, dry spray, or uneven coverage
  • Correct coating defects to maintain high-quality standards and appearance
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols
  • Support production workflows and collaborate with team members to meet project timelines
  • Promote and follow all company safety policies and procedures
