About The Position

Oversee all aspects of the painting work process while ensuring quality and production standards. This role involves painting beams properly to ensure a clean finish without runs, preparing beams for painting by cleaning them, and supervising the work of a Painter Helper. The Industrial Painter is also responsible for maintaining painting equipment, including cleaning airless spray rigs, and performing wet mil tests to ensure proper paint thickness. Compliance with Red Dot Corporation policies, procedures, guidelines, and all state and federal laws and regulatory requirements is essential. The position also requires maintaining and wearing proper respiration equipment, performing special assignments as needed, and completing daily usage sheets for paint and thinner. Support for safety and productivity improvement projects for the fabrication shop is considered a non-essential function.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of applicable work instructions for coating specifications
  • Must be able to use a wet-mil gage.
  • Must be able to operate necessary equipment as outlined.
  • Must understand labeling requirements for all material.
  • Must be able to operate all equipment safely.
  • Must be trained to Red Dot’s safety manual.
  • One year of painting experience required
  • Requires ability to hear and receive verbal instructions, communicate with people in situations with some background noise.
  • Requires ability to concentrate on fine detail with frequent interruption; ability to focus attention on tasks for 10-20 minutes at a time on a continuous basis, 20-60 minutes on occasion.
  • Requires ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
  • Requires ability to work under some supervision.
  • Requires physical capability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 100 pounds frequently.
  • Requires ability to work in a shop environment where it is noisy.
  • Requires bending, stooping, and standing to operate machine throughout shift.
  • Sufficient good health to properly discharge duties required.
  • Requires ability to paint and operate airless spray rigs.
  • Work deals mostly with areas such as reading data and prints, visual inspection involving small details. Although important, depth perception and field of vision (peripheral) are not as critical as the ability to distinguish small details and markings very near to the observer.

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
