About The Position
The Industrial Painter Assistant is responsible for preparing parts for painting through sanding, grinding, masking, and surface finishing processes. This Industrial Painter Assistant role supports the painting team by ensuring materials are properly prepped, equipment is maintained, and quality standards are met throughout the production process.
Requirements
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
- Knowledge of surface preparation techniques (sanding, grinding, masking, filling)
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards
- Ability to work safely with chemicals and PPE requirements
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to read and understand basic part drawings
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Nice To Haves
- Experience in industrial or automotive paint environments
- Experience using spray guns or wet paint systems
- Familiarity with paint processes and coating standards
Responsibilities
- Prepare parts by sanding, grinding, buffing, filling, and masking surfaces
- Pull and verify materials prior to cleaning and painting processes
- Set up and operate equipment safely for paint preparation and application
- Mix and assist with applying primer coatings
- Identify and repair surface blemishes and defects
- Assist with troubleshooting paint-related issues
- Maintain and clean paint booths and equipment
- Follow all PPE, safety, and hazardous material handling procedures
- Support Lean, safety, and quality initiatives
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
