About The Position

Combined Metal Industries (CMI) is seeking an Industrial Millwright to perform direct troubleshooting maintenance work for repair, adjustment, adaptation, re-design, preventative maintenance, and installation of all plant and yard equipment, machinery, and infrastructure. The goal is to assist in a safe and productive work environment. This position is performed both outdoors in recycling yards and indoors in a maintenance shop.

Requirements

  • Industrial Millwright (Red Seal) 433A Certification
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing, recycling, aggregates, or heavy industrial environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience maintaining conveyors, screeners, shredders, crushers, and other heavy processing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, hydraulic diagrams, pneumatic diagrams, and schematics.
  • Proven welding experience (MIG, Stick, and/or TIG)
  • Familiar with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and safe work practices.
  • Experience with precision alignment, bearing installation, power transmission systems, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Valid G Driver’s Licence.
  • Must possess and maintain a complete set of personal trade tools.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible shifts, overtime, weekends, and at different company locations within an 11 km radius as required.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, continuous improvement, and equipment reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on plant equipment and machinery to maximize equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and complete repairs in a safe and timely manner to support production requirements.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair conveyors, screeners, shredders, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, motors, and associated processing equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and equipment manuals.
  • Install, align, commission, and start up new machinery and equipment.
  • Fabricate, modify, and repair components using welding and metal fabrication equipment.
  • Perform welding repairs on equipment, structures, and plant infrastructure.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) practices and company safety policies.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions to minimize recurring failures.
  • Complete work orders and maintenance documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Support maintenance activities at multiple company locations within an 11 km radius as operational requirements dictate.
  • Participate in shift rotations, overtime, weekends, and emergency call-ins as required.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities may evolve based on operational needs and business requirements.
