About The Position

EJ is hiring a Summer 2027 Industrial / Mechanical Engineering Intern for hands-on experience at a modern iron foundry that began operations in November 2018. The intern will contribute to real-world problem-solving and operational excellence by designing fixtures for automated grinding systems, programming CNC machines using Fanuc and Beckhoff controllers, and applying Lean manufacturing practices to improve processes, analyze overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), and reduce downtime.

The intern is expected to promote EJ’s culture, mission, vision, and core values, including its safety beliefs, employee engagement, competencies, code of conduct, and other policies and procedures. EJ is a family-owned company with global operations and corporate headquarters in East Jordan, Michigan. Requirements

• Be a sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a related field at a four-year college or university.
• Be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Design fixtures for automated grinding equipment.
• Program CNC machines using Fanuc and Beckhoff controllers.
• Focus on implementing Lean manufacturing practices, including process improvements, OEE analysis, and downtime reduction.
• Promote the company’s culture, mission, vision, and core values, and adhere to and promote its safety beliefs, employee engagement, competencies, code of conduct, and other policies and procedures.
