About The Position

The primary objective is to ensure that both production machinery and plant facilities operate without interruptions by performing preventive and corrective maintenance tasks. This role aims to maximize efficiency while ensuring strict compliance with USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture) regulations and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) safety standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints (schematics).
  • Programming, configuration, and troubleshooting of PLCs and drives (VFDs).
  • Electrical diagram interpretation, motor controls, basic PLC knowledge, safety circuits, and proficiency with multimeters and ammeters.
  • Mechanical knowledge of transmissions, bearings, and use of precision tools.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics (valves, pistons, hoses).
  • Proficiency in operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and aerial work platforms (scissor lifts).
  • Ability to lift 30-50 lbs and perform work at heights.
  • Ability to work in extreme cold (cold storage/freezers) or heat/humidity.
  • Must be available for weekend shifts (with mid-week days off).
  • Ability to read technical manuals and communicate effectively in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to think critically and act under pressure during line stoppages.
  • Ability to detect unusual noises or wear before they escalate into major failures.
  • Constant communication with production operators and other departments requiring support.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree in Industrial Technology or Mechatronics preferred.
  • Basic welding (desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Repair and adjust process equipment (pumps, motors, conveyors, marination tumblers, mixers, thermoformers, etc.).
  • Service critical systems such as compressed air, boilers, electrical systems (panels), lighting, general services, and infrastructure.
  • Rapidly identify and diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic failures.
  • Execute scheduled routines (cleaning, lubrication, wear and- tear part replacement) to prevent unplanned downtime.
  • Report the need for replacement parts and maintain organization in the tool crib/storeroom.
  • Strictly comply with safety regulations (PPE usage, Lockout/Tagout - LOTO procedures).
