About The Position

The Maintenance Technician assists in the installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery, equipment, and physical structures. This role involves working in an industrial environment, performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of production machinery. The technician will follow work orders, adhere to company safety and regulatory guidelines (GMPs, USDA, FDA), and contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient workplace.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational trade school or 2 to 4 years equivalent professional experience in mechanical or electrical trade.
  • 3-5 years of maintenance experience in an industrial environment.
  • Excellent electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of shop tools.
  • Ability to write reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
  • Excellent reading skills; ability to interpret a variety of instructions.
  • Excellent math skills, including practical application of fractions, percentages, ratio and proportion, measurement, practical algebra, geometric construction.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel).
  • Ability and skill sets to use in-house computer-based system (i.e. SAP).
  • Ability to interact with team members, customers, and vendors in a positive and professional manner.
  • Basic welding skills in arc, Tig, and Mig.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of probability and statistical analysis.
  • Bilingual.
  • Industrial (high volume) food processing experience, particularly frozen foods.
  • Knowledge of batch cooking operations, ovens, freezers, cooler, fryers, and high-speed packaging equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, piping, and electrical systems following specifications, blueprints, manuals, and schematic drawings.
  • Uses hand tools, power tools, hoists, cranes, measuring and testing instruments. Operates grinders, saws, and drills.
  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment using electrical and electronic test equipment.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Repairs/replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, pipe, and related piping system components.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on all operating machinery, including daily lubrication.
  • Performs setups and changeovers on machinery as production demands.
  • Follows work orders and maintenance request forms to repair machinery.
  • Follows all Company rules, including GMPs, Safety, PPE, Lock Out-Tag Out, and rules prescribed by the USDA and FDA.
  • Performs other related duties and special assignments as required or assigned by Supervisor.
