About The Position

The Manufacturing Technician is responsible for comprehending and execution of controlled process steps regarding the assembly or filling of customer related product and capsules. This is performed by analyzing job order instructions, routing cards, associated drawings, specifications and work instructions to determine the project requirements and sequence of production process steps. Due to the nature of our business and a heavy industrial market, Bodycote deems this position to be safety-sensitive.

Requirements

  • This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements, therefore candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holder.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in industrial maintenance.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Electrics and controls/PLCs/ VFDs/Sensors/ Schematic Reading/ Troubleshooting.
  • Experience in a machine shop and understanding of basic math skills.
  • Specialized knowledge should include the operation of drill presses, power saws, grinders, metal lathes, rollers, hydraulic shears, air tools and a variety of hand tools.
  • May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operation certification.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
  • Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods of time in an industrial environment.
  • Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
  • Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Regularly exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.
  • Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
  • Ability to hear in person and via phone.
  • Ability to use power tools and equipment, including plasma cutter, torch, grinder, air tools, crimping guns, and other shop tools.

Responsibilities

  • Operates drill presses, power saws, grinders, metal lathes, rollers, hydraulic shears, air tools and a variety of machine shop equipment and hand tools.
  • Responsible for all equipment, supplies, and inventories associated with the department and machine shop.
  • Maintain daily communication with management to review the priorities set forth within the department.
  • Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.
  • Estimates material and labor and recommends supplies and materials to be ordered.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
  • Follow the established work procedures and control measures (including the use of PPE where issued) and any applicable SHE rules.
  • Suggest and support areas for improvement to their manager.
  • Support their fellow employees, contractors and visitors to achieve a healthy and safe workplace and to care for the environment.
  • This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customer’s inventory and as such will perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage.
  • Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures and accept constructive criticism.
