About The Position

This Industrial Maintenance Technician position at the Storm Lake Pork Plant is responsible for a variety of tasks including troubleshooting, repair, fabrication, and preventive maintenance of all facility equipment. The role requires maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. Key duties involve diagnosing and repairing mechanical malfunctions, documenting actions taken, responding to breakdowns and emergencies, and performing scheduled preventive maintenance. Technicians must be capable of performing diagnosis and repairs without supervision and assisting other mechanics as needed. All applicants should be prepared to work in various areas based on facility staffing needs, with shifts determined by location requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months’ experience in one of the following areas: Mechanical troubleshooting, electrical/Electronic troubleshooting, Hydraulic Troubleshooting, PLC Troubleshooting and navigation, Welding/Fabrication, AC/DC Control Wiring, Motor Control, 3 Phase Wiring, Plumbing, Conveyor Maintenance, Hydraulics, or Pneumatic Systems.
  • Basic computer skills with knowledge in Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to understand and agree to follow Safety Rules.
  • Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Ability to adhere to Tyson Foods' safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all hourly team members and members of management in person and on the radio.
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation (standing, walking, bending, stretching, climbing, pushing, pulling, stooping, the ability to climb ladders, lifts, scaffolds, and working at heights to excess of 150 ft. as well lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 100lbs).

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
  • Provide troubleshooting and repair of any mechanical malfunction.
  • Prepare written documentation of actions taken to correct equipment problems.
  • Responds to mechanical or electrical breakdowns and handle emergency situations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance according to schedule.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork and reports.
  • Comply with lockout/ tagout, confined space, and all other safety programs.
  • Perform mechanical and basic electrical trouble shooting and repairs.
  • Able to perform diagnosis and repairs without supervision.
  • Capable of starting all equipment before production startup and shutdown without supervision.
  • Ability to assist with other mechanics as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
