About The Position

Performs complex mechanical duties and a variety of electrical trade functions in the installation, maintenance, repair and/or distribution of electrical energy. Installs, maintains and replaces electronic programmable controllers in a manufacturing environment. This role involves troubleshooting PLCs, designing and redesigning programs and software, formatting hard drives and installing PC applications, and maintaining or repairing electrical equipment. The technician will locate and diagnose trouble in electrical systems, perform standard computations related to load requirements, and utilize knowledge of serial port communication systems, VFDs, process control instrumentation, servomotors, and drive units. A key aspect of the role is continuous review of their respective area for productivity improvements and cost reductions, including planning and executing process improvements. The technician will also lead projects to return equipment to production safely and efficiently, and maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical code.
  • 4 or more years industrial maintenance experience.
  • 2 years industrial electrical experience.
  • Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office).
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and PLCs.
  • Ability to score 80% or better on the Industrial Maintenance exam.
  • Ability to read and understand procedures in English.
  • Ability to test motors and electrical circuits using a voltmeter and amp meter.
  • In-depth knowledge of LGV equipment and operation.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in industrial electronics preferred.
  • Formal PLC training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot PLCs (Programmable Logic Controller) using a hand-held device or laptop.
  • Design and redesign programs and software (PLCs, operator panels, etc).
  • Format hard drives and install to computers (Computer Setup) and PC applications.
  • Install, maintain, or repair equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electrical energy in a manufacturing environment.
  • Locate and diagnose trouble in electrical systems or equipment working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
  • Perform standard computations related to load requirements of wiring and/or electrical equipment.
  • Utilize knowledge of Serial port communication systems, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), and process control instrumentation devices (thermocouples, pressure switches, etc).
  • Utilize knowledge of Servomotors and drive units.
  • Continuously review their respective area for ideas and thoughts that will drive productivity and reduce costs within the organization and be able to professionally speak to their solution for improvement.
  • Plan and submit process improvements and execute the plan.
  • Lead projects and complete them successfully, returning equipment to production operating safely and efficiently.
  • Keep work area safe, clean and organized.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
