Requirements

  • 3+ Years of recent and relevant facility and equipment maintenance in a manufacturing-based operation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, heights and varied temperatures.
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining: pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics, presses.
  • Basic electrical understanding (not performing licensed electrical work).
  • Experience with PC related applications, such as word processors and spreadsheets.
  • Self starter with good communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Has, is working towards or desires working towards an applicable 314 Red Seal Certificate.
  • PLC & PC programming an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs, and rebuilds on mechanical stamping presses, hydraulic presses, servo-driven presses, feed lines, decoilers, straighteners, and feeders.
  • Repair or replace defective mechanical components such as bearings, bushings, clutches, brakes, seals, pumps, cylinders, gearboxes, and drive systems.
  • Perform precision alignments (ram, bolster, feed line, conveyors).
  • Execute scheduled PM tasks (lubrication, inspection, adjustments, filter changes).
  • Track equipment condition to predict failures and reduce downtime.
  • Document all work performed in PLEX Equipment maintenance logs.
  • Maintain and test light curtains, e-stops, interlocks, safety switches.
  • Adhere to Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Maintain guarding and safety blocks.
  • Actively support safety audits, hazard identification, and corrective actions.
  • Use shop equipment (lathe, mill, grinder, drill press, welder, etc.) to fabricate or repair machine parts.
  • Modify or upgrade equipment components as required.
  • Support repairs to HVAC, compressors, lighting, plumbing, and plant infrastructure.
  • Maintain coolant systems, lubrication systems, and hydraulic supply units.
  • Work closely with Press Operators, Tool & Die personnel, and Engineering to resolve chronic issues.
  • Assist in equipment installations, relocations, commissioning, and decommissioning.
  • Provide input for continuous improvement, reliability, and process upgrades.
  • Assist with QEK’s, continuous improvement initiatives and participates in process improvements.
  • Assist other tooling & maintenance personnel when department priorities make it necessary.
  • Perform other maintenance & tooling duties as required.
