This job posting is for 1st shift with a rotational work schedule of 3 - 12 hours days 1 week and 4 - 12 hours days the next week. The work hours are generally 12 hours a day and the shift starts at 6:00 a.m. The starting base rate of pay is $26.05/hour. Starting pay can be higher based on experience. This position is also eligible for overtime pay. Team members must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and some holidays, as needed.

Requirements

  • At least one year of mechanic work experience with one or a combination of employers or be a graduate of an industrial maintenance training program
  • At least six months of continuous employment with one employer in the past two years
  • Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Willing and able to lift, carry, push, and pull 70+ lbs. below waist, at waist level, and above shoulder level
  • Willing and able to climb up and down stairs to get to/from work areas, work at elevated levels, various heights, and in confined spaces, as applicable
  • Willing and able to stand, walk, and perform job up to 10-12 hours/day, with appropriate breaks
  • Willing and able to bend, stoop, twist, stretch, climb, push, pull, and reach above, below, and across at shoulder level
  • Willing and able to work in an environment where extreme temperatures range seasonally from hot/warm to cold, where conditions may be damp and/or wet, and concrete floors may be slippery in some areas
  • Willing and able to flex/grip with wrists/hands and use maintenance tools
  • Willing and able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection (plugs or muffs), hair net / beard guard, steel-toed boots, and gloves.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
  • Keeping machinery running to maintain continuous production.
  • Repairing and maintaining the operating conditions of the machinery and equipment, and troubleshooting problems that occur in the day-to-day operation of the facility.
  • Performing work involving hydraulics, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanics in general, as well as some welding.
  • Setting up, adjusting, and breaking down production line machinery and completing daily documentation, as required.
  • Ensuring safety, including personal safety and food safety.
  • Complying with all company and USDA policies/guidelines and reporting known or suspected violations.
  • Attending monthly and annual required training (e.g., Safety, HACCP, HR topics, LOTO, PIT).
  • Using basic computer skills to navigate systems, perform data entry, and complete training.
  • Reading manuals to repair equipment safely and following all safety protocols.
  • Recording information using company-provided forms and procedures.
  • Reporting to work as scheduled and working scheduled hours to meet job expectations, having flexibility to work other jobs, as needed, and working weekends and overtime, as needed.
  • Working professionally and respectfully with others while demonstrating positive interpersonal skills, and communicating effectively with all team members and management.
  • Demonstrating strong attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness.
  • Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection (plugs or muffs), hair net / beard guard, steel-toed boots, and gloves.
  • Performing other duties, as assigned.
