About The Position

West Liberty Foods is a leading food manufacturer specializing in hundreds of meat and poultry products found nationwide. As a top protein processor in North America, we produce over 650 million pounds of food products annually across our facilities. We are seeking an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic who enjoys hands-on work and troubleshooting machinery. This role is crucial for supporting production by ensuring the operational status of machinery and mechanical equipment, with experience in automated equipment being essential. The position involves troubleshooting mechanical and basic electrical systems to maintain and repair equipment.

Requirements

  • Schedule: Work Sunday through Friday Schedule 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a mechanical field in an industrial or manufacturing setting is preferred.
  • Ability to read prints/schematics/drawings.
  • Must have computer skills to communicate and process data.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; no sponsorships are available.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, including above the head and below the waist.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and do work on aerial work platforms as needed.
  • Ability to work in varying temperature conditions.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to adjust quickly to changing demands.
  • Must practice good personal hygiene.
  • Candidates must successfully pass a post-offer/pre-employment drug test, background screen, physical and E-Verify.

Nice To Haves

  • Working on automated (PLC’s, Vision Systems) equipment, Textor/Weber/Multivac equipment, 480V, pneumatics is preferred.
  • Experience in food manufacturing or processing is a plus.
  • Preferred experience with CMMS, L2L, Google Suite.
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulics, troubleshooting including mechanical and electrical/electronic, PLCs, welding/fabrication, AC/DC controls, motor controls, 3 phase wiring, plumbing, conveyors, pneumatic systems and more.
  • Associates Degree or equivalent in a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete daily preventative maintenance and daily tasks.
  • Assist and become an active member of the HAZMAT team.
  • Read and understand mechanical and electrical diagrams and technical repair manuals.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot automated equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical breakdowns in a timely manner.
  • Apply knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to maintenance work.
  • Operate lifts and material handling tools as needed.
  • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment as needed.
  • Adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
