About The Position

Step into a day on the floor Sun up in Battle Creek, MI. You grab your toolkit, review overnight notes, and walk the production floor with an eye for reliability. As the go-to Industrial Maintenance Electrician, you diagnose issues before they become downtime, keep our lines compliant and safe, and partner closely with production to keep Motus running strong. Department: Maintenance | Reports to: Maintenance Manager Your impact Build, maintain, and repair plant electrical systems—motors, control panels, lighting, power distribution, and machine wiring—so operations stay on pace. Pinpoint faults using proper meters and diagnostic methods; resolve electrical malfunctions quickly and safely. Interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to plan, install, and troubleshoot effectively. Execute preventive maintenance that reduces unplanned stoppages and boosts equipment reliability. Deliver work that meets local, state, and national electrical codes and adheres to all safety standards. Document repairs, modifications, and inspections with accurate, timely records. Support commissioning of new machinery and facility electrical upgrades. Spot opportunities to improve electrical systems and processes; propose and implement enhancements. Collaborate daily with maintenance and production teams to keep the plant moving. Follow company safety policies, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and PPE requirements, every time. Respond to urgent issues as needed; be prepared for overtime and on-call support when required.

Requirements

  • A safety-first mindset and proven ability to work safely within all rules and regulations.
  • Sharp attention to detail with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude; comfortable with hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment.
  • Overtime is an essential function of this role (hours beyond 40 per week as needed).
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician Card (required).

Nice To Haves

  • 3–5+ years in industrial or commercial electrical work (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, VFDs, motor controls, and industrial automation (plus).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics with confidence.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-starter who also thrives in a team environment; strong communication and organization skills.
