About The Position

SDMyers is seeking an experienced Industrial / Maintenance Electrician to join their Engineered Products team. This role is a hands-on position focused on troubleshooting, building, repairing, and improving electrical and mechanical systems within an industrial manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate enjoys problem-solving, working with control systems, and ensuring the safe and correct operation of equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial or facility maintenance environment.
• Proficiency with single-phase and three-phase electrical systems.
• Proficiency with DC and electronic circuits.
• Proficiency with electrical control systems.
• Proficiency with motor starters and controls.
• Proficiency with breakers, fuses, and electrical protection devices.
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Proficiency with PLCs and touchscreen controls.
• Proficiency with conduit, wire duct, and seal-tite.
• Familiarity with mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Familiarity with industrial machinery and production systems.
• Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Knowledge of NFPA standards and other applicable electrical safety requirements.
• Ability to read and understand complex electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Ability to diagnose problems and determine appropriate repairs.
• Ability to perform both electrical and mechanical repairs.
• Strong mechanical and assembly skills.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.
• Ability to think critically and approach problems methodically.
• Ability to safely work around industrial equipment and electrical systems.
• Ability to learn new equipment, processes, and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical repair, preventive maintenance, and predictive maintenance on facility equipment, including HVAC systems, lighting, motor control centers, breaker panels, production equipment, and laboratory equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical machinery.
• Maintain and inspect production equipment, including vacuum oil purifiers and other specialized equipment.
• Ensure the safe operation of production, mechanical, electrical, and facility systems.
• Perform testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of equipment.
• After training, perform construction, wiring, and troubleshooting of SDMyers production equipment and OEM production products.
• Build, wire, assemble, and test control panels.
• Work with PLCs, touchscreens, and other electronic control systems.
• Wire machinery using wire duct, conduit, and seal-tite.
• Apply a strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) when installing conductors in conduit and completing electrical installations.
• Properly size starters, wire, fuses, breakers, and related electrical components.
• Participate in the electrical work associated with in-shop transformer repair operations.
• Provide electrical leadership on assigned projects and ensure electrical safety requirements are followed.
• Assist with field service equipment and regeneration projects as needed.
• Assist with substation maintenance and related electrical work.
• Support crane use and rigging activities, including eventual minor electrical/mechanical repairs and troubleshooting.
• Follow Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures.
• Follow arc-flash safety requirements and properly use arc-flash PPE.
• Follow confined-space procedures and other applicable safety requirements.
• Complete and maintain required electrical, substation, E-Hazard, and safety training.
• Help ensure electrical and production equipment is operated safely and maintained properly.
