About The Position

Amentum is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Apprentice to join their manufacturing team in Winston Salem, NC. The apprentice will have the opportunity to assist and job shadow senior technicians, improving job skills and industry exposure while performing preventive maintenance on a wide variety of facility and process-related equipment. This includes industrial electrical systems and lighting, overhead doors, pumps and motors, valves, conveyors, electrical control systems, automated equipment, and piping. The role requires enrollment in the Apprenticeship Program through Forsyth Technical College in Winston Salem, NC.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Meet the College's requirements for reading, math, and basic tools competency.
  • Follow the apprenticeship curriculum mix of classroom education and hands-on industry experience.
  • Be available to work any shift/hour during the work phase of the apprenticeship.
  • Must be willing to work overtime when business demands require it.
  • Be at least 18 years or older.
  • Must remain in good standing in the Apprenticeship Program at Forsyth Tech to retain employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of basic repair theory.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical theory.
  • Mechanical skills, sufficient to assist with and perform preventive maintenance and repairs to facility related equipment such as lubrication, cleaning, and filter changes.
  • Experience safely utilizing a wide variety of hand and power tools.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry, email, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts planned preventive maintenance inspections and performs required preventative maintenance actions (lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc.) as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Reviews and submits work order updates to planner scheduler.
  • Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.
  • Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
  • Operates a PC with Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
