A day in this role involves weekend coverage to keep a high-volume manufacturing site running 24/7. Responsibilities include scanning work orders, prioritizing urgent items in the CMMS, and performing various maintenance tasks such as tracing electrical faults, swapping VFDs, inspecting electrical panels, and executing scheduled PMs. The role may also involve assisting the Utilities team with general repairs and stainless passivations, supporting engineering changeovers, working within GMP/SOP guidelines, documenting work, and upholding safety standards (LOTO, PPE, housekeeping). Repairing failed parts using machine shop equipment (lathe, mill, welder) is also part of the job. Confined space entries and working in aseptic areas are required, with training provided for respirator qualification and aseptic work.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma/GED
  • Minimum 2 years of controls and electrical troubleshooting experience
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience or technical training
  • Logical, methodical approach to diagnosing manufacturing/facility equipment
  • Strong organization; thrive under time pressure
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Detail orientation and quality mindset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Skilled with hand, electrical, and measuring tools
  • Ability to operate lathe and milling machine (preferred)
  • Proficiencies: Heavy Equipment Repair, Equipment Troubleshooting, Electrical Troubleshooting Skills, Electrical Troubleshooting, Troubleshooting Industrial Automation Equipment
  • Machines & Technologies: Industrial Controls, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) — Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Schneider Electric, Conveyor Systems

Responsibilities

  • Process daily work orders; troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade facility, production, and lab equipment
  • Diagnose and repair control cabinets, VFDs, main distribution panels, PLC-driven systems, and conveyor equipment
  • Execute Preventive Maintenance on schedule and support engineering projects
  • Assist the Utility Department in general repairs and passivations
  • Maintain compliance with GMP, SOPs, safety procedures, and LOTO/PPE standards
  • Perform machine-part repairs; operate lathe, mill, and welder (preferred)
  • Work in confined spaces and qualify for respirator use (training provided)
  • Capable of working in aseptic environments (training provided)
  • Own daily work orders and preventive maintenance activities spanning production, facility, and lab assets; deliver rapid troubleshooting and durable repairs to maximize uptime.
