About The Position

This is a temporary to permanent position for an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic in Bartow, FL. The role involves performing various types of maintenance on production and utility equipment, troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems. The mechanic will diagnose equipment malfunctions, install and maintain machinery, and document all maintenance activities. The position also supports machine changeovers, installations, and continuous improvement projects, while adhering to strict safety and food safety regulations. Availability for overtime, weekends, and extended shifts is required.

Requirements

  • Experience maintaining manufacturing equipment in an industrial or food production environment.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and equipment manuals.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Welding and metal fabrication.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting.
  • Experience with machine shop equipment (mill, lathe, drill press, saws).
  • Forklift certification.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • PLC-controlled equipment experiences preferred.
  • SAP or CMMS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production and utility equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions using testing devices, schematics, manuals, and operator feedback.
  • Install, align, adjust, and maintain production machinery and equipment.
  • Inspect machinery for wear, damage, and potential failures; replace or repair components as needed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Document maintenance activities, parts usage, and work orders in the EMaint management system.
  • Support machine changeovers, equipment installations, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Follow maintenance schedules and communicate equipment issues or repair needs to supervisors.
  • Operate safely by following Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, Arc Flash, and other OSHA safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and comply with GMP, FDA, USDA, and company food safety requirements.
  • Be available to work overtime, weekends, and extended shifts as business needs require.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
