About The Position

Phillips Tank & Structure (PTS) is seeking a dependable and mechanically skilled Fabrication Shop Mechanic to repair vehicles and shop equipment and machinery. This role is essential to keeping production running safely and efficiently by minimizing downtime and ensuring all equipment is operating at peak performance. The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-focused, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced fabrication environment. PTS is a growing, team-oriented, nationwide tank construction company with headquarters in Braddock, Pennsylvania. We specialize in designing, engineering, repairing, and constructing above-ground metal storage tanks and related structures. We have active projects in various industries, such as petroleum, power, chemical, and renewable fuels. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Technical/trade certification preferred)
  • 1+ year of mechanical experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
  • Proven team player with clear and respectful communication skills
  • Curious and eager to learn new tools, processes and industry standards
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the initiative to dig into issues and propose solutions
  • Continuous Improvement mindset
  • Capable of maintaining accurate project records, reports, and drawing packages
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage parts inventory

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on fabrication vehicles and welding machines
  • Maintain maintenance logs and service records
  • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns
  • Work with supervisors to prioritize repairs and minimize production delays
  • Ensure welding machinery complies with safety standards
  • Support OSHA compliance
  • Maintain a clean and organized maintenance area
  • Recommend equipment upgrades
  • Assist with new equipment installation and setup if needed
  • Ability to weld or willingness to learn
