About The Position

The Industrial HVAC Technician is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing building systems including HVAC, packaging/handling equipment, plumbing, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, and grounds equipment. This role involves cleaning, lubricating, and servicing various components, installing and modifying building equipment, and performing general building repairs. The technician will also evaluate maintenance operations, inspect buildings for safety issues, and operate fire and life safety systems. Responsibilities include responding to emergency situations, using technology for reporting, and complying with all relevant codes and company standards. The position requires adherence to safety training and dress code, with potential for independent shifts, overtime, and on-call rotations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in HVAC installation, repair, and maintenance within commercial, industrial, or institutional facilities.
  • Significant hands-on HVAC repair and mechanical troubleshooting experience.
  • Valid EPA Section 608 Certification (Type II or Universal) required.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and repair HVAC systems including RTUs, chillers, boilers, VAV systems, and air handling units.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and national HVAC codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, components, controls, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex HVAC and facility-related issues.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Skilled in routine and scheduled maintenance to ensure system reliability and longevity.
  • Safety Awareness: Solid understanding of OSHA regulations, HVAC safety standards, PPE, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills for working with team members, supervisors, and external vendors.
  • Time Management: Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Teamwork: Works effectively independently and as part of a cross-functional maintenance team.
  • Adaptability: Able to respond to emergency calls, after-hours needs, and shifting priorities.
  • Basic Computer Skills: Proficient with smartphones, tablets, email, and maintenance management software.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school certification or Associate Degree in HVAC or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Energy Management Systems highly desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, and general building maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair building systems including HVAC, packaging/handling equipment, plumbing, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, and grounds equipment.
  • Clean, lubricate, and service pumps, valves, pneumatic controls, and electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic devices.
  • Install, modify, and upgrade building equipment and systems.
  • Perform building repairs such as replacing ceiling tiles, door hardware, and wall coverings; paint walls, piping, floors, and equipment.
  • Evaluate maintenance operations and recommend improvements or upgrades.
  • Demonstrate proficient use and care of tools and equipment used in facility and grounds maintenance.
  • Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for safety issues, malfunctioning conditions, and preventive maintenance needs.
  • Operate and maintain fire and life safety systems including fire alarms, fire pumps, and related equipment.
  • Perform carpentry tasks and snow removal as needed.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations and customer service requests.
  • Use technology such as smartphones, tablets, computers, web-based applications, and building automation systems.
  • Comply with all codes, regulations, government requirements, and company standards related to building operations and safety.
  • Complete all required C&W safety training on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Follow the C&W uniform dress code and maintain a clean, professional appearance on-site.
  • May be required to work independently on certain shifts, work extended periods during emergencies, perform overtime, or participate in shift work/on-call rotations.
