Industrial Gear Technical Buyer
About The Position
This position is within the IG Logistics department and involves the procurement of required parts for customer orders and supplies to support the IG Assembly facility. It also provides interdepartmental technical support. The role requires obtaining and comparing quotes from approved vendors, monitoring non-conformance parts lists and resolving issues with suppliers, creating domestic and international purchase orders, monitoring open/late purchase orders, and performing and submitting supplier assessments. Additional job requirements and responsibilities will be discussed during the interview process.
Requirements
- Associates or Certification in technical, mechanical or electrical studies required.
- Engineering, machine shop or technical work experience.
- Ability to read and understand parts lists, catalogs, data sheets, dimension drawings, price books and other technical documents.
- Ability to research, read and understand SEW work standards as well as International standards (ISO, DIN, ASTM, etc.).
- Knowledge and/or understand fabrication processes of various types of parts.
- Strong overall office skills, including use of computers, their applications, and other office equipment.

- Bachelors or higher degree in technical, mechanical or electrical studies preferred.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and compare quotes from approved vendors for best pricing and part accuracy.
- Monitor the non-conformance parts list and work with the appropriate parties to resolve non-conformance part issues with our suppliers.
- Purchase Order (PO) creation - Domestic and International parts.
- Monitor open/late PO's.
- Perform and submit supplier assessments.
