Rural Metro Fire•De Soto, KS

About The Position

The Industrial Fire Captain/EMT is the first-line leader of an assigned RMF fire company at the Panasonic industrial facility. The Captain directs day-to-day shift operations, develops and maintains crew readiness, ensures personnel safety, and supervises emergency response within approved site capabilities. The Captain may serve as initial Incident Commander until command is transferred to a qualified higher-ranking officer and reports directly to the Site Fire Chief or assigned RMF designee. This full-time hourly position is assigned to operational shifts, which may include 12-hour or other RMF-approved schedules, rotating nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, emergency call-in, and training travel. It is safety-sensitive and subject to RMF and applicable client substance-testing, confidentiality, and facility-access requirements as permitted by law. Advanced hazardous-materials mitigation, confined-space or rope rescue, and other specialized services are not automatic Captain duties; participation requires verified qualifications, available equipment and staffing, assignment by RMF, and approval under the client scope and emergency response plan.
