Industrial Engineering Supervisor

FordDearborn, MI
$115,500 - $218,100Hybrid

About The Position

This is a leadership role intended for a change agent who can elevate the IE function, integrate more deeply with cross-functional partners, and modernize the department’s workflows. You will bridge the gap between future program planning and plant-floor execution, ensuring that labor allocations are lean, data-driven, and optimized for world-class manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial OR Electrical preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in Industrial Engineering, preferably within a high-volume manufacturing environment (Automotive experience is a plus).
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a technical team.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to influence cross-functional partners and senior leadership.
  • Deep expertise in MODAPTS and time study/time allocation methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of layout design for labor optimization.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to "speak with data" to justify complex labor requirements.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to assembly plants and global sites.

Nice To Haves

  • A track record of evolving workflows and methodologies rather than just maintaining the status quo.
  • Experience with Power BI, data visualization, or advanced data analytics to streamline reporting and integration.
  • The ability to navigate a complex organization, advocate for a previously "hidden" department, and demonstrate the value of IE to skeptical or unexposed stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 3–6 Industrial Engineers. Foster a culture of transparency, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the review of future vehicle programs to determine labor impacts. Work with cross-functional teams to assess new program content, complete labor allocations, and conduct time studies.
  • Ensure cycle line layouts are accurately configured to show all required work content, equipment, and parts in collaboration with the Manufacturing Engineering (ME) teams.
  • Serve as the primary voice for IE in program meetings. Confidently present data-backed justifications for labor needs and challenge product assumptions to drive leaner manufacturing behaviors.
  • Support the evolution of IE methodologies. Work with Digital Transformation and standards teams to define and implement new workflows.
  • Partner with assembly plants to manage temporary labor needs and respond to change requests on current programs, ensuring a seamless transition from program launch to steady-state operations.
  • Actively drive lean initiatives across the organization, ensuring that IE principles are integrated into the earliest stages of vehicle design and process planning.

Benefits

  • Immediate medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage
  • Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and more
  • Family building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments, and more
  • Vehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leases
  • Tuition assistance
  • Established and active employee resource groups
  • Paid time off for individual and team community service
  • A generous schedule of paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day
  • Paid time off and the option to purchase additional vacation time.
