About The Position

The Industrial Engineering Internship Program is designed for college engineering students to experience the fast-paced, high-technology environment of aviation manufacturing. Interns work on challenging assignments across manufacturing disciplines, including part manufacturing, assembly, coating, welding, forging, and machining. The internship includes Industrial Engineering training, data collection, improvement projects, and day-to-day assignments. At the conclusion of the internship, students present their results to senior managers and executives as part of their development toward becoming full-time Industrial Engineers. Positions are available in East Hartford or Middletown, Connecticut; North Berwick, Maine; Asheville, North Carolina; Columbus, Georgia; and Lansing, Michigan.

Requirements

Must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program at the time of the assignment.
Eligible majors include Industrial and Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under the program or contract.

Nice To Haves

Minimum 3.0 GPA.
Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes.
Data mining and manipulation experience with Excel, VBA, SQL, or other methods.
Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.

Responsibilities

Evaluate operations and identify improvement opportunities using data analysis and metrics.
Review and analyze work-cell layout, process flow, and material flow to establish standard work.
Conduct labor and machine capacity analysis to identify improvements.
Maintain and update time standards for established operations.
